Missouri Feral Hog "No Hunting Zone"

Picture

“NO HUNTING ZONE” Private and Public Lands – BAITING LAWS applied before Wild Hog Problem

UN-Restricted Wild Hog KILLING has NEVER existed in MISSOURI. Some form of restriction from the Missouri Department of Conservation has existed.

WHY MISSOURI FERAL HOG TASK FORCE IS A FAILURE AFTER 12 YEARS and the Wild Hog Population is just under 100,000!

Wild Hogs must be killed 24/7/365 not just 8 months of the year on private and public lands by all methods.

Missouri Department of Conservation – January 22, 2020

One complication landowners should be aware of is that, since corn is used to bait feral hogs, sometimes deer and turkeys will also gather at a bait station. To keep landowners and hunters from being in violation of baiting laws, MDC conservation agents and landowners work with the trapping technicians to designate a “NO HUNTING ZONE" around the trap site and, if possible, allow hunting on the remainder of the property, subject to approval of the landowner.

The size of the no hunting areas are determined by a conservation agent. The same occurs on public land where no hunting areas are designated around trapping and baiting sites during deer and turkey season.

“On smaller properties, we typically SUSPEND HOG TRAPPING efforts until after all hunting has stopped,” Jensen said. “If you are hunting deer on 40 acres, there’s a good chance that you are probably going to run the hogs off your property anyway. Ultimately, the decision to stop trapping and hunt, or stop hunting and trap, or have a no hunt zone is up to the landowner.”

(If that's the case then, hiking, biking, wildlife watching, camping, shooting, hunting other wildlife should be BANNED on all PUBLIC LANDS)

Missouri Department of Conservation Feral Hog Research 2009. - Feral Hog Research Project Final Report - Executive Summary

DID YOU KNOW? - 2009 - According to our data, the majority of control efforts should be applied from March – May (Turkey Season) and September – October, (Bow Season) as these periods are likely to Result in the removal of more pregnant females. This is currently in contrast to hog control operations in Missouri, as hog control is often put on hold during these times to reduce conflicts with hunting seasons on our public areas.

MINGO WILDLIFE REFUGE WILD HOG RESEARCH - March 14th, 2014 - Funded by Missouri Department of Conservation - 2013 - Site specific control strategies for feral hogs on Mingo National Wildlife Refuge. $ 14,700.

Hogs killed by trapping – 39 or 18.6% of the 210 hogs killed - Feral Hogs TRAPPED by MDC one full-time hog technician with panel traps, with bait. - Trapping was halted for deer and turkey seasons to prevent baiting issues.

Deputy Director Aaron Jefferies of the Missouri Department of Conservation - Testifying in Jefferson City - Monday - February 18th, 2019 during Conservation and Natural Resources Committee Hearing Missouri House of Representatives –

LIED about me – He told the committee that I know good and well that I was never told I could not hunt my property and bait for hogs – When I have multiple conversations and letters with MDC staff, agents, leadership that I could hunt PART of my 80 acres, like 40 acres of my land during Deer and Turkey Season an MDC trapper, USDA Aphis trapper or I baited for hogs.

Either landowners are partners in the Wild Hog Problem, or they are wildlife game violators. Hard decision must be made NOW! Because saying the Department is Protecting Native Species by allowing invasive species killing methods to be restricted, only Destroys the Native Species Habitat and in essence the Department has actually helped Damage the Native Species.

Eradication, Making progress, or Closing in on the Feral Hog becomes Unquantifiable, dishonest and unprovable. By the numbers shown Missouri Department of Conservation cannot break 30% Wild Pigs Removed from Landscape in the last 12 years.

123 Missouri Wild Hogs Killed in 48 hours by hunters

123 Missouri Wild Hogs in 48 hours – 8,000 lbs. of Missouri Wild Hogs - February 9, 2020?

So, you don’t think Missouri has a Wild Hog Problem! When the population in 2020 hits 100,000 wild hogs in the state.

February - Official State of Missouri Feral Hog Awareness Month

Missouri Feral Hog Task Force Started in 2008 - Since then they have killed and left to rot in Missouri. 44,208 by the official reports. They have never broken 35% killed in anyone year!

Share the first photo with you friends, family, politicians, media and fb groups.

In 48 Hours, 123 Wild Hogs no longer exist in Missouri, MULTIPLE sounders ERADICATED of off private land. Hog Dogs and hunters are like a chainsaw to the Missouri Wild Hop Population. Just another tool in the toolbox.

This would not be possible, but the 4-year ban has created a population explosion and landowners are paying the price. When the Missouri Feral Hogs Task Force only kills 33% of the population yearly this is the result.

Also hog hunter said he would like to thank the Missouri Department of Conservation for today success on private land –

The amount of NEW Human Pressure for the first time in 12 years, of trucks, employees, and UTV, they have caused the Wild Hogs one of the most intelligent species, to shift away from the area they have flooded into private properties, and have become more wary, and become less susceptible to trapping.

They learn to avoid danger very quickly and “half-hearted” attempts to control them.

They respond to human pressure via avoidance. Which has now shifted from a few hundred acres to several thousand acres based on the NEW human pressure.

While using Electronic Human Activated traps are consider the best method and MDC as of July of 2019 only owned 9 total, the VAST majority of traps used by MDC are animal trip wire activated. So, you might catch 2 or 3 or even more. But it’s like rolling a dice.

Trapping in Missouri is more like using an AX to cut down a 100-year-old oak tree, it’s a tool in the toolbox also, not a solution. While Hog dogging is the chainsaw. Together they could get to 70% needed to keep the population stable.

But MDC has banned, restricted or left out completely tools in the tool box. February 9, 2020, they killed 123 hogs 83 of those Wild Hog Sows with 249 unborn piglets that would have been added to the historical high Wild Hog Population in Missouri. Some hogs coming in over 200 lbs.

Back in January 2020, they killed total 57 Wild Hogs which 43 of those Wild Hog Sows with 165 unborn piglets would have been added to the historical high Wild Hog population in Missouri

All this happen on Private land in Southeast Missouri Counties

These 11 groups of hunters used hog dogs and 1 group used guns. ALL Private Citizens of Missouri, who have regular jobs like the rest of Missouri.

The BIG change no team using Thermals and Night Vision this time because of the big restrictive regulations changes the MDC has made.

We must get permission from agents to help our neighbors, family or friends. Now.

With over 300 in attendance, people from across Missouri drove to get some free hog meat.

Who showed up: To show support of Eradication Efforts for private landowners in Missouri State Representative, Two County Commissioners.

Who DID NOT show: To show support of Eradication Efforts for private landowners in Missouri
Director Sara Parker Pauley of the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Deputy Director Aaron Jefferies of the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Conservation Commissioner Don C. Bedell, Sikeston, Chair
Conservation Commissioner Wm. L. (Barry) Orscheln, Columbia, Vice Chair/Secretary
Conservation Commissioner Steven D. Harrison, Rolla, Member
Conservation Commissioner Mark L. McHenry, Kansas City, Member
off course no Missouri Media showed up either.

Unlike the unconfirmed kill numbers by any 3rd party - trapping and helicopter numbers by the MDC you can see the results and so can 300 other people on hand.

As a Landowner, Conservationist. Hunter and Trapper, I want to say THANK YOU to this group of hunters and dogs.

Picture

IS THIS SUCCESS?

The ONLY way Missouri Department of Conservation was Successful in 2019 is if the Population of Wild Hogs was 15,000 or less for the entire state.

The Missouri Feral Hog Elimination Partnership (the Partnership) eliminated 10,495 feral hogs from Missouri in 2019.

Missouri Department of Conservation Professionals, Biologist Quote – “70 percent of the feral hog population needs to be removed yearly to keep populations of feral hogs from increasing.”

Less than 70 percent in ANY of the last 12 years is a complete failure!!!!

Would like to thank the Missouri Cattlemen's Association for taking a stand for PRIVATE LANDOWNERS RIGHTS!!!!!

2019 USDA Aphis Feral Swine Map has just been released.
By this Map alone Wild Hogs are in 44 counties in Missouri.

Picture

What the USDA Aphis 4 years of maps shows as the results of hog ban. 4 YEARS LATER after the feral hog hunting ban on ALL Missouri Department of Conservation Areas,

ALL Missouri State Parks,
ALL U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Lands
ALL LAD Foundation Lands

Trapping and Helicopter are the most successful methods.

Then all these areas MUST be Wild Hog Free since they have had no hunting and are under COMPLETE control of Interagency Feral Hog Eradication. TAUM SAUK STATE PARK, JOHNSON SHUT INNS STATE PARK, FORT LENOARD WOOD, BIG SPRING NATIONAL PARK, CURRENT RIVER NATIONAL SCENIC RIVERWAY, SAM A. BAKER STATE PARK, DUCK CREEK WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA, WAPPAPPELLO LAKE, MINGO NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, CASTOR RIVER CONSEVATION AREA and PEAK’S RANCH – Which is the most watched Conservation Area in Missouri since Elk have been introduced in 2011
Missouri.

Population still exist on ALL these areas and the state population of 20,000 to 30,000 wild hogs in 2017 per Mark Twain National Forest - Forest Report Now 100,000 Wild Hogs in 2020 because Missouri the National Model of Feral Hog Eradication has never broken 35% killed. . Don't worry 1.5 million acres has just been added!!!!!

Missouri Citizens feel intimidated by Missouri Department of Conservation.

Meanwhile in Missouri the Full weight of the federal and state government are calling landowners poachers, harassment of local citizens and families multiple times, trying making federal criminals out of law abiding citizen, searching cars, checking weapons, trying to find FERAL PIG POACHERS, telling landowners under 20 acres you don't count, changing federal definition of what a handguns are, telling friends, family or neighbors they can't help landowners without permission with night vision or thermal.

No help from local sheriff officials, or Jefferson City or local politicians in site.

Only tool left are signs telling the rest of Missouri what's really happening. Either a feral hog hanging next to a sign or a banner on a truck.

What is Missouri Department of Conservation reply. Staff feels threatened.

That's like the Wolf being scared of the sheep.

I support Bill 1292 on which allows landowners or a landowner agent to use night vision devices or thermal imaging devices when hunting feral hogs. Which will be presented on Monday – January 27th, 2020 in the Conservation and Natural Resources Committee.

In just over a week – The Missouri Department of Conservation has added another barrier for landowners to eradicate wild hogs on private land. With the Wild hog estimated population in Missouri close to 100,000 and the MDC only killing 16%. The problem is now even worse than it was 4 years ago with the first Wild Hog Hunting BAN on MDC, State Parks, Corp Ground and LAD Ground. With over 2 million acres now with a Wild Hog Hunting Ban – Wild Hogs Road Kills, Pet Dog killed or Injured, and Urban Damage has increased to a historical high.

• Night Vision & Thermal Scopes are a tool in the toolbox that must be used to fight the Wild Hog population growth. If you don’t own the night, you have already lost.
• Monday - February 18th, 2019 at the Natural Resources Committee Meeting at the Missouri House of Representatives: The Honorable Deputy Director Aaron Jeffries of the Missouri Department of Conservation at Conservation QUOTE “WE WANT TO KNOW WHO HAS THEM”
• So, under Open Records Request to MDC anyone will able to find out who owns thermals and night vision in Missouri
• The argument is the same as anti-gun crowd – You must be a criminal if you own a gun. If you own a Night Vision or thermal Scope you must be a poacher.
• Feral Hog Research Project Final Report - Executive Summary - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) began a feral hog research project in 2009 to analyze hog movements, cost efficiency of control efforts, and reproductive characteristics and growth rates of the population.
The results of the habitat analysis indicate that hogs used crop fields and pasture when it was available within their home range, but use it primarily for foraging at NIGHT, with a majority of their movements being within the forest surrounding the fields.
In our study, hogs were most active around sunset, with activity declining throughout the night, and least active around sunrise. http://www.northamericanwildlifeandhabitat.com/missouri-fer…
• The NO. 1 FERAL HOG TRAPPING COMPANY IN THE NATION took 2 ½ years on 4,942 acres using Electronic Human Activated Traps ONLY and Thermal Scopes shooting at night to remove 624 Feral Hogs on 4,942 acres in Georgia - During December 2012 to June 2014, 76 combined trapping and shooting events resulted in the removal of 624 swine (353 shot with Thermals, 271 trapped).
• When a landowner give permission to family and friends to hunt any animal on his property – They don’t have to get permission from Missouri Department of Conservation First.
• It’s already illegal to kill deer at night and they just raised fine for poaching to 1,000 to 5,000 dollars.
• So, landowners needing help in Missouri, under a WILDLIFE REGULATION, but for a NON-WILDLIFE ANIMAL aka FERAL HOG in the Wildlife Code by the Missouri Department of Conservation, which allows landowners friends and family to use night vision and thermals to kill feral hogs on our own property
• MDC Letter: The written authorization is a REASONABLE PRECAUTION to ensure these devices, which are extremely effective for poaching wildlife, are not being used by unscrupulous individual to take elk, deer, turkey, black bear and other wildlife illegally under the guise of “hog hunting”
• Texas, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Illinois does not require permission from the game and fish departments to use thermals to kill feral hogs they must TRUST their LANDOWNERS more than Missouri does!!!!!
• Driving at night with a weapon, Conceal and Carry while bowhunting, frogging at night, coon hunting at night, running traps at night, or even a landowner at night checking his livestock with gun in truck, would need written authorization because that would be a reasonable precautions to ensure those weapons are not used to poach wildlife.)
• An individual or landowner bird hunting, waterfowl hunting, squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, deer hunting during the day must be a less unscrupulous and a foregone conclusion to poach elk, deer, turkey, black bear and other wildlife illegally under the guise hunting specific wildlife
• Apparently, Missouri Department of Conservation, believe landowners in Missouri are a FOEGONE CONCLUSION as giving permission to poachers to come on to their land.
• This proposed amendment to the language in Rules 3 CSR 10-7.410(1)(C) and 3 CSR 10-4.130 to SO CALLED expand opportunity, only hurts the LAW ABIDIING LANDOWNERS and ADDS ADDITIONAL BARRIEERS) (No one needs a hunting license or written permission to poach, they don’t care if it legal to kill feral hogs or any other wildlife POACHERS WILL ALWAYS POACH
• MISSOURI FERAL HOG - FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST - United States Department of Agriculture - Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wild Hogs shot with Rifles/Thermals Scopes
FY 2012 thru 2018 - Wild Hogs Shot by USDA Aphis Grand Total Wild Hogs shot with Rifles/Thermals Scopes Shot by USDA Aphis 40 http://www.northamericanwildlifeandhabitat.com/missouri-fer…
• Just one Example of Many outside of Missouri: Rougarou Hog Control - 2019 is in the books using Thermals. 1167 hogs removed for farmers and landowners in Central Louisiana. The number I’m sure higher of ones we couldn’t find in the crop fields or woods that surely bled out.

Missouri Feral Hog Population at the end of 2019 for the entire state of Missouri is 14,993!!

Because 70% of the population has to be killed to keep the population stable, quoted by ever Missouri Professional, Expert and Biologist.

Since 10,495 Wild Hogs killed by MDC, and I can't get anyone in any agency to give me the population of wild hogs in Missouri. Other than the 10 Wild Hogs left in Seven Counties in Zone 1 per the MDC. I had to guess, hope my math is correct. Maybe the Missouri Media will get an answer to how many wild hogs in the state of Missouri.

STATE OF MISSOURI AGENCIES - 2008 TO 2019 - 44,208 Wild Hogs Killed

In 48 Hours, 57 Wild Hogs no longer exist in Missouri, with some of the most dangerous weather conditions that could occur in those 48 hours.

This would not be possible, but the 4-year ban has created a population explosion and landowners are paying the price. When the Missouri Feral Hogs Task Force only kills 33% of the population yearly this is the result.

14 Wild Hog Boars, 43 Wild Hog Sows with 165 unborn piglets would have added to the historical Wild Hog population in Missouri

All this happen on Private land in Southeast Missouri Counties of Iron and Reynolds

These 7 groups of hunters used hog dogs and 1 group used thermals. Private Citizens of Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Conservation Agent also made an appearance, but the MDC Leadership animosity is so viral thru department towards hunters, he looked and left without a great job or thank you on behalf of the MDC.

Remember in 2017, the Missouri Department of conservation secured a contract with professional dog handler to locate and kill feral hogs. The handler led a successful eradication in May of 2017 of an area.

But that no longer matters.

Now 1.5 Million Acres have been added to the ban, with $5,000 fines – Thanks to the Missouri Department of Conservation, Mark Twain National Forest, Missouri Department of Agriculture, lobby groups like the Missouri Farm Bureau and Conservation Federation of Missouri and its Affiliate members like NWTF, QF, QDMA, RMEF, DU and etc..

In 3 days over 2 million acres in Missouri wild hogs will be protected from hunters.

As a Landowner, Conservationist. Hunter and Trapper, I want to say THANK YOU to this group of hunters.
